Let’s face it, most of us feel a clutch of trepidation at the thought of entering a gym. Perfectly-manicured gym bunnies dressed in designer gym gear and musclebound behemoth’s repeatedly curling bicep dumbbells as they admire themselves in the mirror is hardly everyone’s cup of tea. It all seems so serious.
Yet, exercise doesn’t have to be so serious. It should be fun and engaging – a chance to meet new people, improve overall fitness and feel good about yourself.
The Benefits of Regular Exercise
Exercise can be a miracle cure. Whatever your age, it’s scientifically proven that being physically active is one of the cornerstones of a happy, healthy life.
Regular exercise can help to reduce the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke – even cancer. Not only that but exercise releases endorphins, making us feel better. It will improve general sleep quality and energy levels and can reduce the risk of depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
How to Exercise
When thoughts of exercise filter into our minds, most of automatically think of the gym. Lifting weights, hopping on the treadmill, running for hours at a time with muscled behemoths and perfectly-manicured gym bunnies by our side. Now gyms are fine for some, but they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, and besides shouldn’t exercise be fun for everyone?
Luckily for those that approach the gym with a degree of trepidation, there is a friendlier option – one that engages participants of all ages in a nurturing and encouraging environment, helping them to achieve their individual fitness goals, whilst having fun.
