The Revalidation of the Six Steps to Success Programme
We’ve very pleased to announce our revalidation of the Six Steps to Success Programme. As testament to the continued quality of care that we provide to all our residents here at Flixton Manor, this recognition aptly demonstrates the continued efforts of our staff and our commitment as a residential nursing care home.
What is the Six Steps to Success Programme?
There are more than 400,000 people living in the independent care sector in the UK. Residential care is their home. It’s paramount that each resident feels safe and comfortable in the final years of their life.
The End of Life Care Strategy by The Department of Health has previously identified a high level of unnecessary hospital admissions amongst care home residents. This has highlighted the need for residential care home staff to provide better palliative care. The result was the Six Steps to Success Programme.
The Three Separate Six Steps to Success Programmes
There are 3 distinct Six Steps to Success programmes. These are as follows:
- Care Home
- Domiciliary Care (Organisation)
- Domiciliary Care (Workforce)
Developed in the North West of England by Cheshire & Merseyside Clinical Network and the Greater Manchester, Lancashire & south Cumbria Clinical Network, each programme provides clear guidelines for correct practice for care in residential homes.
The Care Home Programme and What We Provide
This programme consists of eight separate workshops that support and empower care home representatives, enabling them to implement the Six Steps to Success at their care home.
In addition to the core programme, care home staff will receive specialised training in communication skills and advance care planning.
Supporting collaborative and multi-professional working across all settings, care home representatives are encouraged to continue their education and development by attending a local care forum.
